| What is Natural ? |
The ingredients from which our products are made are natural because they have been derived from natural sources. There are very few ingredients which do not need some sort of processing before they can be used. For example, olive oil is a natural ingredient, but to make olive oil, olives must be pressed and processed. Essential oils are also natural, but need to be extracted from the plants which contain them. This may be by steam distillation or cold pressed.
Our products are 100% natural. We have formulated our products so that they do not need synthetic preservatives or chemical additives. Our glossary page offers some explanations of some of our ingredients so that you can be confident in knowing exactly what you are putting onto your skin. |
| Preservation of Our Products for Your Protection |
| Most of our products do not contain water, and therefore do not need preservation. The only threat to these products is rancidity of the oils through oxidation. To ensure that the oils stay effective, we include either rosemary oleoresin or natural vitamin E, together with naturally anti-oxidising essential and carrier oils. |

For most of our products which do require water, or hydrosols, we leave it to you to add the water. For example, instead of adding water to our Lavender Scrub, we supply you with the dry ingredients and let you add the water. This not only negates the need for a preservative but also lets you control the consistency of your skin care products.

Biopein® is a natural preservative which we believe is effective in protecting emulsions. However, being derived from rosemary and similar extracts, it has quite a strong aroma and tends to dominate the product. While it is not an offensive smell, we want our customers to experience the range of aromas that can be produced from essential oils in our products. For this reason, we only use Biopein® in the Anti bacterial Cleanser. Our other products do not contain water.
Our lotions contain hydrosols and therefore need to be protected from contamination. We have been able to source a naturally derived preservative which is gentle and safe, and suitable for our lotions. We use this natural preservative in our lotions and we supply the lotions in airless bottles to provide further protection. |

| We source high quality raw materials through ethical suppliers. We then hand make pure, effective products, which help to care for, protect and nourish your skin. The natural ingredients in Annabelles Natural include essential oils, pure vegetable oils, waxes and butters and botanicals. Where possible, we try use certified organic ingredients. |

| Hand Made in Small Batches |
| To establish the maximum shelf life and the purity, quality and effectiveness of our products, we make them by hand in small batches. This provides total control over each batch, and total effectiveness for you. It also enables us to adjust the ingredients of our products if necessary. |

| Not Tested on Animals |
 |
Our dedicated team of testers would be quite upset if we called them animals. We have a testing team with a range of skin types, tastes and preferences, representing a wide range of ages from teens through to the 'substantially more mature'. They are always willing to try something new, offer constructive criticism, and also offer ideas for new products.
